Environmental and Toxic Tort
The Environmental and Toxic Tort Committee focuses on existing and emerging issues in the environmental, pollution and mass tort context. This encompasses long tail claims (asbestos, pre-1986 pollution, lead paint) as well as claims submitted on currently issued policies (failure to properly remediate asbestos, groundwater monitoring, spill clean-up and chemical exposure). The Committee generates articles and conducts webinars to educate all CLM members and fellows on these issues. We also present a Mini-Conference annually in conjunction with Construction Defect. Our monthly calls include a “Roundtable” section in which topics of interest to all subgroups in environmental claims are discussed and various viewpoints presented by counsel, industry members and environmental consultants.
