W. Brett Mason

Biography

Mr. Mason is a Partner with Degan, Blanchard & Nash in Baton Rouge, LA.

Mr. Mason was born and raised in New Orleans. He attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in European History in 1990. He returned to New Orleans and went to Tulane University School of Law, earning a Juris Doctor Degree in 1993 and a Master of Laws Degree in Admiralty in 1994.

He is admitted to practice in all state courts in Louisiana and Texas, all Louisiana Federal Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Mason is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Maritime Law Association of the United States as a Proctor member, and the Transportation Lawyers Association. Mr. Mason has also been certified in Litigation Management by the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance.

Mr. Mason has been representing clients in civil disputes in state and federal court and arbitration tribunals for over thirty years. His areas of focus are transportation, personal injury and casualty claims, admiralty and maritime matters, professional liability claims, specialty insurance claims, and business litigation.

Mr. Mason has been identified as one of New Orleans “Top Lawyers” in New Orleans magazine and has been recognized by a Super Lawyers in Louisiana from 2014 – 2025. Super Lawyers also identified Mr. Mason as a Louisiana Top 50 Super Lawyer for eight consecutive years, 2015-2022.
